My 2010 Predictions for Comic Books
DISCLAIMER: I make these claims as a man of comic books and in NO way, shape or form is it based on knowledge of my employer’s plans, because I don’t know what they are.
Much like the music industry in The Aughts, comic books are about to get iTuned in the new decade.
Everyone, seems hopeful for tablet computers as the magazine medium has flat-lined. Notice, that I didn’t write “dead?” That’s because comics have a niche fanbase who love them, much like people who enjoy vinyl records, film cameras or first editions of books.
You following?
Digital comics will become cheap or free because (more profit is made in licensing) and readership will increase for everyone as they are easily able to reach the masses. The user interface for digital comics will become simple and gesture-based to minimize interference with reading.
That is the not-so-secret formula.
That is your future.
