Things You May Not Know About Me
I just spent the weekend in Baltimore, Maryland attending the Baltimore Comic Convention but most importantly, The Harvey Awards.
The Harvey Awards are one of the comic book industry’s oldest and most respected awards. The Harveys recognize outstanding achievements in over 20 categories, ranging from Best Artist to the Jack Kirby Hall of Fame. They are the only industry awards both nominated by and selected by the full body of comic book professionals.
One of the comic books series that I edit, High Moon, won the award for Best Online Series this year, and though I don’t think any comic awards have a Best Editor category HINT HINT, I take a hell of a lot of pride in knowing that I helped David Gallaher, Steve Ellis and Scott O. Brown produce an awesome comic series.
It is nice to know that the very first two series that I have worked on have received such recognition, and in the case of Bayou, broken a record (five Glyph Awards).
I know there are many editors in this business whose achievements dwarf mine, but it really feels good to know that I am not some kook, babbling on about what good comics should be, but that I am actually out here helping to produce them.
