Welcome to the New Drunken Mouse Dojo
Well, I finally got off my lazy ass and took the time to install WordPress on my Web host’s MySQL server. I’ve been quite obsessed with the blog of late for those who have not taken notice.
My current circumstances and mental state have left me with some much overdue “Mouse Time” so my inner geek is reemerging and I’ve actually managed to get this up and running amidst a very full weekend of socializing.
WordPress is a little more involving in order to add all those cool little widgets, typelists, etc. so I am sure the look of this page will change continuously. At least now I have my blog mostly under my control. TypePad was good fun but I was also using it during a time when I didn’t have the patience for coding. Now, I look forward to digging into all the scripts and such to make a blog that is worthy of the Drunken Mouse.

I struggle with the Typepad/Wordpress decision all the time. While I like having total control, I also like that my wife “Crafty” rarely bugs me about technical issues. Also, I’m not a terribly huge fan of PHP. If I were to go another route than typepad, I might just write my own system in Java using the Freemarker templating language.
Yep, one of the reasons I stayed away was because WordPress is such a pain. So many people have so many great ideas and templates, but no one seems to have made it as easy as say, redesigning a Blogger template. Maybe, I will get too fed up I will sort it all out for normal people.
Nice pad! I keep meaning to get carynsolly.com’s act together, but I haven’t had time. Maybe you will inspire me to get with it. I did just create a site with WordPress for a group of friends, and I love WordPress. The plugins are v v fun.
