It Was Kind of Like Fruit Cake

Though I do not technically celebrate the XMas, I tend to still have dinner with family and friends as well as give and get gifts.

Adding to this tradition is apparently dinner with the exGF, who is a fantastic cook, by the way. Aside from the offer of a decent meal, there were still some things I had to rescue from my former home so we were killing two birds with one stone.

I picked up some wine and a some fruit and we had a really filling dinner, followed by me rummaging about for anything that I may have left behind. We intended to go for some coffee and chat afterward and as we were bundling up by the door, she asked for the keys back…

Sure. No problem.

The coffee shop was closed, so instead we went to the sad pretty little Irish pub nearby and had some wine (I might have forgotten to mention that she didn’t have a corkscrew, so we couldn’t drink the bottle I brought).

I was a sort of sad little sit down as the conversation eventually came around to our breakup and I receive pats of sympathy on the thigh and back. This was not a conversation that I wanted to be in and it definitely killed the evening as we tried to joke and laugh at things that honestly were not humorous. It was sort of like a fruit cake, undeniably it is edible, but most people choose not to eat it and avoid it like the plague.

Well those are just less keys I have to worry about.
